Mastering Studio Light Mentoring 1:1 - ADELAIDE

Sold out

Whether you are relatively new to newborn photography or an experienced photographer looking to enhance your skills, mentoring can be a valuable investment for your photography business.

A lot of my own learning within the industry has been through both 1:1 mentoring as well as group workshops with a number of award winning Australian and International newborn photographers. I hold a Certificate IV and Diploma of Photoimaging and for the past 6 years, have run my own successful photography business in which I have been specialising in newborn and maternity portraiture for the past 4 years.

Participating in a mentoring session is an excellent way to gain the knowledge and ‘know how’ from an experienced professional in the industry and in turn, will help you enrich your skill set on your path to running a successful photography business.

During the session we cover everything from achieving
the best image straight out of camera, studio lighting, camera settings and angles to the art of posing and wrapping, soothing, newborn safety and the use of props. We will also cover postproduction in Photoshop. You will be able to use all of the images you take on the day within your own portfolio with mention of Leanne Curtis Newborn Photography on social media.

My objective for your mentoring session, is to customise the session to suit your current experience and abilities as a newborn photographer. I want to see you succeed, to leave the day feeling inspired and confident.

The day commences around 9.30am once I arrive at your Studio, where we will sit down for a quick overview of the day ahead. Our newborn model will be scheduled to arrive around 10am and this is when the fun begins!

You will observe me in my typical workflow during a newborn session. Throughout the session we will cover positioning the baby on the flokati, posing beanbag shots as well as some prop set-ups where there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions along the way. You will also have the opportunity to capture your own images of each set-up and I will coach you in camera angles, exposure and getting multiple images from one set-up for your client gallery.

We will finish working with our model around 1.30pm, where we will then stop for a light lunch which is to be provided by the host photographer.

After lunch, the files from the session are downloaded and we will then run through my typical editing process step by step in ACR and Photoshop. We usually fully edit between 2-3 images from the session to show the general editing workflow on a number of different styled shots.

The day concludes around 4pm but your support from me does not necessarily end here. I offer continued support and am available to answer any questions you may have or if you just need me to refresh you on anything that we covered during that day, I am willing to help. You will also be added to my private Facebook group along with other past workshop and mentoring attendees.

You will need a basic knowledge of Photoshop, you must own and understand DSLR camera usage and be comfortable shooting in Manual Mode; plus have a basic knowledge of aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings. I use a 35mm and a 24-70mm lens but also recommend a 50mm lens as well.

(By paying your deposit you are accepting the following terms)
